But, above all, the spirit of seva or service was the mainstay of his whole being. Seva was his métier. And he did it with great pleasure – whether it was for the visiting devotees, the masons on the mandir site, the sick, the sadhus or his dearest guru. At all times, it was seva he thought of, even in sleep. With seva, he felt most himself, most alive; and he inspired the youths to perform seva, which, he believed, was central to spiritual growth.
